The Science Behind The Spaceage Bong
Chapter Two- The Science
Now, a lot of people think I designed this bong to look the way it does for show. But actually, there was a lot of thinking behind the nature of the hits generated by the machine. I wanted the device to generate a 100% water filtered hit; therefore I couldn’t base my design on the traditional ‘bottle’ shaped bong, I had to think outside the box. I came up with a theory I called the ‘Up-down filtration hydraulic motion’. The diagram below explains my theory in further detail:
(1) By using separate chambers a downwards vacuum is created, resulting in the water constantly being pulled towards the lower chamber.
(2) Pressure from the hit taken will be greater than the pressure created by the lower chamber resulting in a slight build up of water in the upper chamber.
(3) Due to the amount of space in the upper chamber, the pressure pulling the water up the tube is vastly reduced when it reaches this area of low pressure. This causes some of the water to fall back into the lower chamber while other water is going in the opposite direction, creating the up-down hydraulic action.
(4) Smoke from the burning source is pulled up the two chambers and the tube by the direction of suction.
(5) The smoke meets the up-down hydraulic system in the tube which cools it down and also filters out larger, more toxic particles.
(6) Cooler and purer smoke fills up the upper chamber.
What this results in is a much more efficient filtration system capable of purifying the smoke further than previously imagined. It also results in a pretty cool looking bong. Before you attempt to apply the ‘Up-down hydraulics’ theory, you must first understand it. MASTER it. In order for it to be successful, the circumferences of the tube, burning source and mouth piece have to be somewhat equal. The burning source must be higher or at level height with the top of the filtration tube which must also be higher than the lower chamber.
How To Make A Space Age Bong
Chapter One- The Idea
The Spaceage bong; you’re probably wondering the hell it is and what it does huh? I came up with the idea when I was high some nights ago. I got so high on my old bong that I decided to make something much crazier and capable of making me MUCH higher. So what did I do? I brainstormed the ultimate bong. Rather, the ultimate too for getting high. How ultimate? I’m talking twin chambers, transparent filtration cylinder, dynamic filtration and an extended inter-cooling clutch system... the works. I was so stoked when I put it together, I couldn’t keep it to myself. I had to share my invention with the world. The cool thing about it is that anyone can make it, provided they’re patient enough to give it good shot. I made in under an hour, first attempt! Below is the photograph I took of the machine right after making it:
BONG
Chapter one: The beginning
It should be written, in an ancient scripture or one of those prehistoric scrolls you don’t see too often, that man made bongs. It should be celebrated, that man made bongs. Little is known about the bountiful culture and intricate ways that go behind the art of the bong. The bong, simply put, could be the bridging point between mankind and beyond. I solely believe that bong designing and creating is going become a new would-phenomenal art. By now, you’re thinking, “Man, what kind of stuff is this guy smoking? He must be insane.” Well no, insane I am not. One could describe my state of mind as; in immaculate condition. For what I have my dear friends, is enlightenment. Enlightenment on what you wonder? That is, the art of the bong. Now, if you read this far, it means you can read, and if you can read; surely you know what a bong is? A bong is a device used for smoking ‘pure’ marijuana. It usually consists mainly of a large chamber which holds a quarter of its capacity with water, a pipe leading from the burning source into the water, a carburettor, a cone and a mouth piece. In case you’re wondering what all this stuff means, I’ll explain:
i) Chamber- A chamber is a container; home-made bongs for example usually use items such as plastic bottles and transparent lotion bottles as chambers. By saying that a quarter of the chamber’s capacity should consist of water, it should be understood that this simply means water should be poured under half of the container. The chamber is useful in that it shows the bong-user precisely how potent the contents of the burning-source are. The carburettor is also located on the chamber’s lining; this is primarily the only place on a bong that a carburettor can be placed.
ii) Water- Water is an essential part of the bong anatomy. Without water, the bong is a useless machine. Water is used to rejuvenate and stimulate smoke cells inside the chamber. The water should be strategically handled to prevent it from interfering with the burning source. Several variations such as; hot/warm water (this opens pores in the throat, relaxing it and stimulating the mind further)and icy water (this contracts pores in the throat, aggravating it and stimulating the mind even further) add to a new experience each time.
iii) Pipe- The pipe is another essential part of the bong anatomy. The pipe determines whether the hit will be hard or rough. A hard hit is usually a result of a pipe with a smaller circumference than the carburettor. Hard hits require deeper inhalation from the bong user and usually take longer than rough hits to omit an equal amount of produce. Rough hits are usually a result of a pipe with a significantly larger circumference than the carburettor. Rough hits can also be a result of a generally large pipe. Thin pipes are prone to major cloggage; when clogged, soft pipes are useless, harder pipes can be revived by unclogging. The pipe is truly a bong-essential.
iv) Burning Source- This is just the connection between the pipe and the cone. It is an important but small part of the bong. It can cool too.
v) Cone- This is the #1 essential part of the bong anatomy, the cone. The cone is a cone-shaped metal container, usually about 2.5 inches high with an average circumference of about 3 inches. It is open on both ends to allow seamless suction. The cone should be easily removable and fairly durable. The reason the cone is made of metal is because it is where the wise leaves are placed to amber.
vi) Mouth Piece- This is a large opening on one end of the bong that is used by the bong-user to take a hit. Depending on the nature of the bong, it could be used to pour water into the chamber.
“I think they’re so many things wrong with me, the last thing I should be worried about is what’s wrong with me”
-Self quote, I philosophised with this during a very ‘profound’ moment in my life.
“Every man has their wishes. Every woman has her chances. Therefore why leave wishes to chance?”
-I came up with this right now.
